Did you tell every teacher and scientist you know that the 2019 season of Skype a Scientist is open and ready to go?!

I have joined Skype-A-Scientist because I wanted students to have an opportunity to meet a real scientist doing real research and begin to think of themselves as potential contributors to the scientific community. A lot of times, especially for my students, they can't imagine themselves being something that they have not seen. Science or science careers aren't that real to them so I am trying to do a lot of work around exposure to different career pathways/options in science. With that said, I would appreciate it if you could talk to them about your research (we will have reviewed your website and anything else you make available to me). I would also like for you to speak to them about why you chose this area of study and a little bit of what your typical day is like. They will have some questions written to ask you ahead of time and will probably come up with some on the spot.
Thank you so much for taking part in such an awesome program. I know that you are very busy and I really appreciate you.
I mean, come ON. I straight up Kristen Bell-ed when I read this email for the first time; I reacted just like I might have if Ellen DeGeneres had faked me out with a surprise visit from my favorite animal haha (see left). This was exactly why I signed up with Skype A Scientist! I chatted with all 3 of Safiya's classes, as well as 5 more from the Chicago area - that's nearly 200 students in just 2 days of video chats!

I want to run Skype a Scientist full time bc I want to see how high this beast could fly. To do that I need support - Your support. $1/month donations are massively helpful.https://t.co/iXGAL1Tdtn
