The food is Cuban-inspired and pretty darn good, the staff were so friendly, and the rooms were just the right combination of perfectly clean and homey. I've included a link below for if you're ever in the Vero Beach area and need a place to stay. It was so great to see Dan's grandparents and aunt and uncle, it had been several years since I'd last seen most of them. We had a lovely, relaxing time with everyone :)
I also tried a new bread recipe this past weekend. A lightly sweetened buttermilk bread was my first experiment with bread flour, and I could taste the advantages over all purpose. First off, the crumb was amazing, just like store bought but so much tastier. And, unlike other breads I have previously baked, this recipe slices very nicely, perfect for sandwiches and what Dan's father says could be a "mean French toast". I'm so happy I pinned this one a while ago, and only wish I had baked it sooner. |
August is "Move In/Out Month", and it's amazing what people will get rid of just to save a bit of space in the moving truck. Dan and I picked up an almost perfect cat tree (valued at Petco for around $120), cleaned it up a bit, refeathered the little spring on top (after this picture was taken haha), and set it up by our window in the living room. As the picture below shows, one kitty's trash is another kitty's treasure (or in this case, two kitties).
